Baby is Well

Carly Jo went in for her 6 month baby well check yesterday.  She is now in the 67th percentile for weight (weighing in at just over 16lbs) and in the 97th percentile for height.  The doctor would like to keep her on Similac Alimentum for another 3 months (at least) due to her protein sensitivity with her tummy.  Her diet consists of Formula and carrots these days and the Dr. Neall says she's growing like a champ!

Carly Jo's "Half Birthday"

Carly Jo turned 6 months old yesterday and we thought it was time to celebrate.  So in honor of her 6 month "half birthday" I decided to go ahead and give her some real food.  So we spooned in some baby food carrots and well I think the video says it all.  This was her very first bite of real food!

What a 12 Year Old will Say!

I thought it was rather funny when we got into the discussion of "french kissing" last night with Rachael.  I'm not sure how this subject came up last night but the subject of "french kissing" was the topic and I asked the question "Rachael what is french kissing?" and Rachael's reply was "ewww gross I know what it is!" I then replied, "Well what is it?"  Rachael replies "I know what it is".  I then asked Rachael, "Rachael have you "french kissed" before?" and she replies "uhhhh no!"  My giggly response was "well how do you know if you haven't?  Rachael what involves "french kissing?"  Her reply was "well it has to do with your lips!" she said matter of fact.  I then reply "Oh...ok"  and then she goes on to point to her teeth!  I said french kissing has to do with your teeth and your lips?  She started uncontrollably laughing and tosses herself onto the floor.  My reply "Rachael this is a serious discussion." (mind you I'm laughing at this point).  She said "No it isn't your teeth this is really embarressing but it's what people do when they are dating!"  The only thing I could think of while I was still belly laughing was "Oh"!

All AbOYD!

It was just too cute not to put on the blog. Grant was playing with his big train he had gotten as a gift on the kitchen table.....you will catch that Grant keeps saying "All Aboyd....All Aboyd!" That's a 2 year olds way of saying "All Aboard". He is becoming quite a little parrot these days repeating everything he hears. Grant still loves his trains and plays with each of them almost daily. I am reserving tickets this week for the big "Day Out with Thomas" that comes to Chattanooga in April. I think he is now at the age where he would really enjoy the Thomas train ride. There is always a possibility we may be in Huntsville by this time but we will most definately be making a trip to Chattanooga for the Thomas weekend!

In Focus

As you can see Rachael is now a proud owner of glasses. We had our eyes checked yesterday and well the rest is pretty self explanatory. She has to wear them all the time (per her Dr.) and we hope that this will result in all A's and B's now that everything is in focus. Here is a pic of Rachael with her new specs!

The Songs that Mommy's Sing

Now as you listen to this clip please do not critique my singing ability because I'm not exactly a recording artist but my 5 month old loves my singing even if it is off pitch and completely ridiculous. Most of you will not recognize this little diddy I put together but it's quite catchy. After all what a 5 month old thinks matters!

Changes

Well 2011 is definately going to be the year of change for us. With all of the excitement of Carly Jo's arrival and now having 2 babies my blog has taken a backseat so I am hoping during nap times that I can now get back into the swing of things. We are planning on moving to Huntsville Alabama hopefully sometime this year. Our house is currently on the market (and has been now for 5 months). We are mainly moving because of our children! It's amazing how when you have children of your own how nothing else really matters and you do everything in your life specifically for them! You get up in the morning...for them.....you stay up till midnight....for them....you are more concerned with nap times and feeding schedules and stay up at night thinking did Grant eat enough today? Did Carly Jo take in enough formula to get her through the night? Has Grant kicked off his sheets like he always does in the middle of the night and need to be tucked back in? Has Grant had enough prune juice to keep him regular? When was Carly Jo's last bowel movement? Making sure all kids are caught up with their shots and Dr. appointments to keep them as healthy as I can. I'll just be real for a minute....there are some days where I don't get a shower or eat till after 3pm and well I'll just be honest this is MOST days. 3 years ago I was into my career and that was my life. It's astonishing how much I've looked back and never thought for a million years I would be who I am and where I'm at today. If I could explain who Brittney Mecomber is today it would be very simple....I'm a mom...that's who I am...that's what I do...and I love it.
